7th X4 miitti 2015
3. – 5. 7. 2015 Simpele
This year we were in Viimola Kultamaa, a cozy plaze and just right size for our group of about 50 people.
Friday, the arrival day, was one of the warmest days in summer 2015. Thermometers along the road displayed over 30 degrees Celsius.
Again this was a new record what comes to foreign participants, not only from Germany but also a group of five from Netherlands came to our meeting.
It’s so nice that people want to ride to “up north” year after year and the headcount increases steadily.
The major part of foreign participants came by ferry to Helsinki, either on Thursday or Friday morning.
We formed a group of 15 bikes on Friday, had a little tourist / sightseeing tour in Helsinki and at about noon we headed to Simpele.
Everything was ready there when we finally arrived there, so it was sauna time with few beers and the evening passed with flying wings.
On Saturday we made a tour using country roads via Sulkava to Savonlinna for a lunch, then headed back to the meeting place via Punkaharju.
X4cup competition was mastering the wheelbarrow with a light but sensitive load. Philip, Haggel, Jorma and Risto scored max points so they had to take another round, grande finale with higher difficulty level.
Here Jorma was the best, beating Haggel just by the difference of 8 grams.
Later in the evening the following people were called to pick up their prizes:
X4 Cup: Jorma
Longest distance, ladies: Jutta 1347km
Longest distance, men: Karl Heinz 3464km
Favourite bike, naturally aspirated: Jari
Favourite bike, turbocharged: Erik
Youngest participant: Jarno
X4 attitude prize was handed over to Conty.
We also wanted to carry up Leena and Kaija because of their long term contribution as chefs, looking forward to see their excellent service continuing during the coming years, too.
After “the official ceremony” was a time for little something from Touring-Club Wertheim and also Leena and Kaija Named several people, because of various reasons and good justifications.
Sauna and campfire with related program was a no-brainer, but Ben digged out his bagpipe and this was something what has been never before experienced in finnish motorcyle meetings, I’m pretty sure about that.
Big thanks to everyone who were either arranging or visiting the meeting, you all together made this event a memorable one.
